history of the emerging leaders academy

Through a partnership with OMMS and CMAO, an emerging leadership program was developed from input and direction received from the Emerging Leadership Academy Committee consisting of Tim Rooney, Dave Slezickey, Greg Buckley, Justin Battles, Michael Spurgeon, Mike Bailey and Brooks Mitchell.  The purpose of the Academy is to provide relevant information to those new to local government management as well as provide networking opportunities for long-term coaching and mentoring benefits. As there is no exact, formal, holistic preparation for local government management, this training is designed to use experienced managers and administrators to share what they know now and what they wish they knew when they started. The program is designed to share “what they don’t teach in school” from experienced municipal professionals, through a Spring and Fall one-day workshop format for new managers/ administrators ,local government employees and elected officials who are considering transitioning to a municipal management position.  Formal recognition of “graduates” will be held once participants obtain 16 hours of training through the Emerging Leaders Academy.
